Top 12 tips for WNA Homeowners.
With fall here, it time to start preparing for winter because as temperatures begin to dip, your home will require maintenance to keep it in great shape through the winter. Below, is the definitive, and we do mean definitive, top 12 list of things you want to do.
1. Call an HVAC professional to inspect your furnace and clean ducts.
2. Cap or screen the top of the chimney to keep out rodents, birds and bats.
3. Use weatherstripping around doors to prevent cold air from entering the home and caulk windows.
4. Clean out the gutters and use a hose to spray water down the downspouts to clear away debris.
5. Drain gas from lawnmowers and wash off your gardening tools
6. Service or tune-up snow blowers.
7. Rake away all debris and vegetation from the foundation.
8. Buy extra smoke detector batteries and change them when daylight savings ends.
9. Locate your water main in the event you need to shut it off in an emergency, shut off all lines to outside spigots, and cover or insulate those which can’t be shut off.
10. Drain all garden hoses.
